Oxford City Stars, whose hopes of progressing from the South Division play-offs had already bitten the dust, were unable to halt Haringey Greyhounds, who ran out 5-2 winners at Oxford Ice Rink.
Haringey have now won all five of their play-off games and this latest victory means they have now qualified for the play-off final.
Oxford produced some superb passing movements in the first period, which ended with them leading 2-1 thanks to goals from Nick Oliver and top scorer Dean Francis.
Haringey equalised in the second period, and then netted three more times in the final period to secure victory.
Oxford coach Darryl Morvan was proud of the effort his players put in.
He said: "I felt we were always in with a shout until late in the game, when Scott Cannam scored the goals that ultimately decided the contest.
"I think it would be fair to say that the supporters saw a spirited performance from Oxford in their last home game of the season.
"I know that Haringey were definitely feeling the pressure going into the third period, even though if the score had remained at 2-2 it would have secured the point they needed.
"But with the heart and pride Oxford were demonstrating Haringey were brutally aware that they ran the risk of losing the game."
Stars sign off at Streatham Redskins on Sunday.
