HEATH Bampton was Oxfordshire’s top performer at Sunday’s Highworth 5 mile race.
The Oxford City AC runner crossed the line in seventh place in a time of 28mins 14secs.
Bampton finished just over two minutes behind winner Nyle Clinton, of Swindon Harriers.
White Horse Harriers’ Paul Wiceman was the second of the county’s athletes to complete the Wiltshire-based race.
Wiceman was 35 seconds and two places behind Bampton as he came home in ninth position.
Chris Colbeck and Will Downey finished inside the top 25 as they crossed the line in 17th and 23rd respectively.

Banbury Harriers’ Simon Pritchard and Tim Hughes, of White Horse Harriers, finished in the top 50, placing 33rd and 34th.
ABINGDON AC’s Paul Fernandez came home eighth at the 131km long ONER Ultra Trail Run along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
He completed the route in a gruelling time of 19hrs 5mins 7secs.
