Oxford Harlequins Under 17s reached the Plate final in a competitive Weybridge Vandals sevens tournament.

Quins eventually lost to Crawley after beating London Wasps in the pool stage.

Starting strongly with a 5-5 draw against Petersfield, the squad progressed to fight for a place in the tougher of the two divisions present.

Robbie Hill, at scrum half, led the team to an inspiring 28-7 win against Wasps.

Concentration lapses and perhaps over confidence led to a 35-14 loss to London Irish.

Weybridge were despatched 42-5 in the semi-final with Graeme Crapper and Stuart Waknell kicking all their conversions.

Despite using all their squad, Quins' injuries took their toll after they led 12-7 in the final. The last two minutes saw Crawley score twice and pull away to a 21-12 win.
