Slade Farm United produced a sub-standard display as they went down to a disappointing 3-2 penalty shoot-out defeat against St Johns in the second round of the Benovolent Cup.
The awful playing surface was a major factor as both teams struggled to play decent football, and it was no surprise that the half ended goalless.
Shortly after the break, St Johns took the lead.
Fifteen minutes from time, Phil Christie put the finishing touch to an excellent move to sent the tie into extra time.
Slade created a number of chances, mainly through Owen Suter, but he failed to find the net as the game went down to a nerve-jangling penalty shoot-out.
