Banbury Bulls still control their own promotion destiny despite suffering a narrow 12-10 defeat at promotion-chasing Ampthill Midlands 3 East South.
With a game in hand, Banbury will finish top should they win all their remaining fixtures.
Ampthill took the lead from a catch-and-drive try on 15 minutes, but Banbury centre Pete Papenfus hit back with a penalty.
Banbury fashioned a delightful try from the restart for scrum half Justin Parker, who sprinted in for Papenfus to convert.
Banbury conceded a penalty try for collapsing a five-metre scrum in the second half and the conversion sealed a narrow victory to deny Banbury the chance to lead the table.
