Gareth Source, appointed captain for the game by manager Ben Spiero, rewarded his boss with his first ever goal in Hook Norton's 3-0 win at Cirencester United in Division 1 West.

Indeed, it was the central midfield dynamo who opened the scoring after 19 minutes, when he hooked the ball into the right hand corner of the Cirencester net following a deft flick on from Ricky Smith Thereafter, Hooky remained on top, and it was no surprise when they went further ahead on 32 minutes. Richard Northover chased the ball to the right hand corner.

After cutting in, he surprised the home defence with a pass to the far side of the penalty area where 18-year-old Joe Davies was on hand to smash the ball into the back of the net.

The second half saw Cirencester try hard to recover some lost ground.

Hooky had to weather a period of pressure before regaining the ascendancy.

In the 69 minute, top scorer Northover put Hooky further ahead.

Running onto a through ball on the left side of the penalty area, he fired past visiting keeper Lee Clatworthy.

This was a good all-round team performance by Hooky whose substitutes - Anton Sambrook, Jamie Cramond and Spiero himself - made telling contributions in the last 15 minutes.

After an even first 25 minutes during which the visitors might have gone ahead, Rocks took the lead with a great shot from 25 yards from Thompson.

A mix-up between Pete Jenkins and debutant goalkeeper Danny McDonough saw Jimmy Potts score No 2 two minutes into the second half.

Controversy raged midway through the second half when Clanfield's Nathan Radbone appeared to be the victim of a stamp.

While he was off the field being treated, the home side netted twice in a minute through Potts and Urwin to kill off the visitors hopes.
