Three perfectly flighted set-pieces from Ryan Curtin set up headed goals for three different players as Abingdon United settled this Division 1 South & West clash inside half-an-hour.

The 4-0 victory moved them level on points with local rivals Didcot.

Curtin delivered his first pinpoint cross after seven minutes when his corner was flicked home by the head of Richard Peirson.

Two minutes later, Curtin's free-kick was met by Micheas Herbert, who powerfully headed in the second.

Then 20 minutes later, another Curtin free-kick found Nathan Woodley, who headed on into the far corner.

Abingdon got the fourth in the 39th minute when Herbert slipped the ball to Peirson.

With a perfect flick, he put the ball through to Anaclet Odhiambo who went around the keeper and slid the ball home.

Soon afterwards, Peirson put the ball one side of the centre back, ran round the other and hit a tremendous drive that came back off the bar as United threatened to overwhelm the visitors.. Another Curtin free kick picked out Herbert again but this time his header flew just wide.Thatcham just couldn't get going and could only muster two shots way over in the first 45 minutes as United were in complete control The second half saw Thatcham get more into the match, but Abingdon held them at arm's length. The visitors were forced to throwing the ball into the area more in hope than expectation. Simon Tricker plucked most out of the air easily and the rest were dealt with by a solid defence.

Curtin forced a good save from Town keeper Paul Strudley before Thatcham had their best move of the game, but the ball was fired over from a good position by Green.

A fine save near the end by Simon Tricker maintained Abingdon's clean sheet.United nearly conceded just before the final whistle as the visitors got a fine strike from a free kick on target but Simon Tricker dived right and got a hand to the ball to turn it around the upright.
