Blanchfords Oxfordshire Trophy winner Mahers Boy enhanced his claims for the William Hill Pall Mall here next month with another scintillating display in the Dunn Car Sales Stakes at Oxford on Tuesday.
Elaine Parker's Sheffield-trained black and white dog burst from the traps at 8-11 favourite and was never headed, despite being under pressure all the way from the highly-rated Myella Honcho.
Even more to his credit was the performance in the gluepot conditions as he posted a calculated time of 26.80secs.
On the same card, there was open race success for Terry Kibble's Meenala Stewart, while Diane Stratford's Terrydrum Iver, a previous length winner over top rated Coup De Tat in July here, was marvellous value at 5-1.
There is more open racing scheduled for next Tuesday. However, when the Stadium switch to Thursday night racing instead from Friday on March 1, open racing will be staged on Thursdays.
In fact, the last Friday meeting will be next week as the Stadium revert back to Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday evening meetings. The BAGS continue on Wednesday and Sunday.
