Stunning hot-shot John Mills took his goal tally to 49 for the season as he struck five in Didcot Town’s 8-2 demolition of ten-man Bishops Cleeve on Saturday.

Mills took his tally to nine in two games against their struggling opponents as the Railwaymen kept up their chase of a play-off place in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

The game was seemingly over in the ninth minute when Jimmy Deabill’s goalward header was blocked on the line by the arm of Nathan Summers.

Summers was sent off and Mills converted the penalty.

Didcot got their second when a great cross by Sam Elkins was met by Deabill who headed home for his third goal in three games.

Mills got his second shortly afterwards, latching on to Elkins’s cross and firing home.

And he completed his seventh hat-trick of the season in the 36th minute, coolly slotting past Steve Benbow as the hosts raced into a four goal cushion at the break.

Bishops Cleeve replied just after the restart when Jamie Heapy fouled Jack Watts, who sent Didcot keeper Kieran Beesley the wrong way from the resultant penalty.

After a quiet spell, the game sparked back into life with five more goals after the 80th minute.

Mills scored his fourth when he volleyed past Benbow, but the visitors’ substitute Edilson Antonio fired in two minutes later.

Pablo Haysham got on the scoresheet with arguably the goal of the game when his curling shot looped past the diving Benbow.

Mills netted his fifth when he rounded Benbow and fired into an empty net.

Haysham rounded of an amazing with his second in the final seconds.
