AN 84-YEAR-OLD running enthusiast from Didcot is showing no signs of slowing down after completing his 100th parkrun.

Geoff Jackson, of Didcot Runners, reached the milestone at Abingdon’s 5k parkrun on Saturday, completing the course in 34mins 10secs.

Jackson, the club’s president, has totted up his century of runs at various UK locations, as well as in New Zealand.

His first was in Abingdon two years ago, while he runs at least four times a week.

The Didcot resident, who ran the London Marathon in 1983, has no intentions of hanging up his trainers just yet as he eyes the next milestone – 250 parkruns.

He said: “My club think I am an inspiration, but I don’t see it myself.

The 84-year-old added: “That motivates me, just trying to do a good time and I am very competitive – I have to push myself.”
