ESTONIAN international centre back Hannaliis Jaadla has become Oxford United Women’s first new signing ahead of the new FA Women’s Super League 2 campaign, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

The U’s host Watford this evening at Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road in their season opener, with Jaadla included in the squad.

The 28-year-old has more than a decade of international experience, as well as previous spells with Tammeka Tartu and Flora Tallinn in the Estonian top flight, and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, this will be her first taste of the WSL.

“The level here is very good and I’m really looking forward to the season, to see the level of the Women’s Super League 2,” she said.

“I really don’t know much about it, so I want to experience it.

“I would say that in Estonia, or in different places in Europe, you have more time on the ball when you’re a centre back.

“It’s a high-pressing game here all the time, so it’s something to get used to.”

United manager Les Taylor added: “Hanna is an international player and she brings a great deal of top-level experience to the side.

“We have a very young side, they’re brave and they have no fear, but I think everyone will benefit from having a player like Hanna around, who has seen both good and bad times in her career and can bring the benefit of those experiences to the side.”
