GOALKEEPER Chris Herbert was the hero for Witney & District FA Premier Division leaders Carterton Town A, heading home a last-minute equaliser to give his side a 2-2 draw at relegation-threatened Ducklington, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.

Goals from Scott Mason and Josh Hartley had put the hosts in front and although Jason Lonsdale pulled one back it appeared Carterton were heading for defeat.

But Herbert popped up with the final effort of the game to earn his side a point.

Second-placed West Witney closed the gap to two points with a 1-0 victory at Hailey, with Danny Brearly scoring.

Chipping Norton Town were held to a 1-1 draw at home to mid-table Minster Lovell.

Keiran Watts scored for the hosts, but Pete Hanley was on target for Minster to give them a share of the points.

Second-placed Spartan Rangers moved to within three points of the top of Division 1 with a 5-3 victory at Chadlington.

David Cross scored twice for the visitors, with Jamie Timms, Harry Thomson and Pete Jenkins getting the others.

Billy Hales scored twice for the hosts alongside goals from Chris Smith and Josh Bishop, with a Rangers own goal getting the visitors on the scoresheet.

Jim Littlewood, Rob James and Harry Lake all scored as Milton defeated Bampton United 3-1. Ally Henry scored Bampton’s reply.

Goals from Danny Southgate, Perry Tinson and Dan Smith gave Ducklington Res a comfortable 3-0 away win over Hanborough Res.

Ducklington A were knocked off the top of Division 3 as they fell victim to a shock 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Minster Lovell Res.

David Souch, Liam Crawford, Nathan Bowles, Andy Horne, Mykel Ryan and Alex Coutts all scored for the hosts, with Lewis Bartlett replying for the stunned former pacesetters.

In Division 4, Jacob Hancock picked up a four-goal haul as Charlbury Town Res made light work of their hosts Eynsham SSC Res to win 6-1.

Daryl Potter and Gary Jones nabbed the others, with Shaun Rowbotham scoring Eynsham’s only goal.

Shaun Gilbert and Mark Goode each scored for hosts Charlbury Town, but couldn’t prevent their exit in the first round of the Senior Cup as they were beaten 3-2 by Hanborough.

Liam Harris, Neil Rose and Will Potter scored to send the visitors through.

Brize Norton, who have already been relegated from the Premier Division, gave themselves some hope of success in the cup, as Dave Anstee’s goal gave them a 1-0 win at Witney Royals.
