Banbury United manager Paul Davis believes the decision to replay their Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division match at home to Slough Town, which was abandoned in October, is the correct one.
The Puritans were 2-1 down at half-time when referee Lee Sheridan was struck by a bottle thrown by a 14-year-old Banbury supporter, causing the game to be abandoned.
After a 139-day wait, the Southern League have ordered the match to be re - played.
Neil Baker, Slough’s joint manager, said: “The actions of a spectator who was not with us means we now have the expense of going back there.”
But Banbury boss Davis believes it is the only fair option.

“I can see Slough’s disappointment, but I can’t see what other solution was available,” he said.
“Obviously I don’t condone the actions of the young man who threw the bottle, but if you start awarding teams the points at half-time you set a dangerous precedent.”
Banbury have been handed a four-figure fine by the FA and will pay the expenses of Slough, who have until March 25 to lodge an appeal.
