General manager Justin Merritt was pleased with Oxford City’s 2-2 draw at Vanarama Conference North leaders Barrow, despite being frustrated at missed chances.
City made several opportunities against the title-chasing Bluebirds, but had to settle for a point after only converting twice.
“We created a number of chances and on another day we probably could have got a couple more,” said Merritt.
“The boys are pretty battered and bruised in there after a tough afternoon in that sense, and I keep emphasising that we can’t compete in that manner.
“If we’re going to go toe-to-toe with teams, we’ve got to get the ball and move it, use our technical ability.

“I thought we did that at times, but probably a bit of composure in front of goal was lacking today.”
Nevertheless, Merritt was satisfied with the result and the performance.
He added: “We probably had more chances, but then Salva (de la Cruz, goalkeeper) has had to make two or three outstanding saves.
“We’re disappointed because we had the lead twice, but on the balance of play I think we’re happy with a point.”
