Ian Concannon struck four goals as Didcot's excellent run in the Southern League's Errea Cup continued against Premier Division Merthyr Tydfil last night.
A touch of brilliance from Ray Spence, making his home debut, gave Didcot a fifth-minute lead.
Spence received the ball on the edge of the box, turned his marker and fired a low cross across the goalmouth that Concannon gratefully tapped home.
Spence almost added a second before Merthyr's Rhys Carpenter missed a great opportunity from the edge of the box with keeper Chris Webb stranded.
A defensive howler let in Darren Davies to equalise, but Concannon restored Didcot's advantage on the hour.
Concannon made the game safe when he thumped home a rebound to complete his hat-trick, and he still had time to convert a late penalty to make it 4-1.
Didcot Tn: Webb, Goodall, Jack, Heapy, Bedwell, Witt, Dyke (Weatherstone 74), King, Concannon, Spence, Powell.
