A final flourish helped Westcombe Park to a 61-12 victory over Chinnor - bringing their aggregate tally against the Oxfordshire side to 146 in National 3 South this season.

Chinnor, who lost 85-8 to Westcombe at home in October, trailed 40-12 with 11 minutes remaining on Saturday before suffering a late onslaught.

Westcombe's lead was a slender 15-12 as half-time approached, but two tries in two minutes kick-started their charge.

Impressive flanker James Lindfield scored the first of a try hat-trick after two minutes with Oxford Blue James Whittingham adding the conversion.

Centre William Hefer bagged try No 2 on eight minutes before Whittingham slotted a penalty.

Anthony Pyers gave Chinnor hope with an intercept try, which James Hewitt converted after an earlier penalty miss.

Another intercept score, this time from Richard Williams, brought Chinnor back into contention.

But tries from Lindfield and Sam Greenaway made it 25-12 at the break.

Westcombe skipper and No 8 Tom Hayman, another Oxford Blue, crossed over after 48 and 55 minutes.

Chinnor were having their best period of the game, but Westcombe broke away for Lindfield's third try.

The visitors were still pressing despite seeing flanker Ed Rixon sin-binned for a professional foul.

But further tries came from Sam Barnett (2) and Greenaway, all converted by Whittingham.
