Oxfordshire girls won the Southern Counties Under 18 Tournament with a fine display of attacking hockey at Tilsley Park on Sunday.
Oxon got a good start with a 1-0 victory over Bucks followed by wins over Sussex (3-0) and Surrey (2-0).
However, they failed to take their chances against Berks and succumbed to their only defeat, 1-0.
Their best performance came against Hampshire, winning 1-0, and they finished with a 0-0 draw against county champions Middlesex.
Final placings: 1 Oxon 21pts, 2 Hants 20, 3 Berks 17, 4 Middlesex 15, 5 Surrey 8, 6 Sussex 6, 7 Bucks 4.
Oxon Under 16s also put in a good performance, though their results were more mixed.
They lost 1-0 to Bucks, but were pleased to hold it to one as their opponents ran away with the championship, and lost 2-1 to Surrey, conceding a last-minute winner.
However, Oxon then beat Hants 1-0, with a fabulous individual goal from Hannah Nugent in the final minute, and drew 0-0 with Berks where they dominated the match.
The last two games were a 1-0 defeat by Middlesex, when they were caught on the break in the first five minutes and couldn't pull it back, and a 1-0 victory over Sussex 1-0.
The surprise winners of the tournament were Middlesex, who won four and lost two.
Oxon Under 13s played two Southern Counties Championship matches at Cokethorpe School, near Witney, winning 2-1 against Berkshire after losing 2-1 to Kent.
