Brian Clemenson, no stranger to plundering the top prizes at Oxford Stadium, could prove the party pooper with his Shelbourne Poopa in the £1,000 Blanchford Building Supplies Oxfordshire Trophy final tonight.

The race boosts a superb line-up, with every one of the runners having a chance, and it should prove a cracker.

Most of the money will be on Elaine Parker's Sheffield runner Mahers Boy, who was mighty impressive in winning his qualifier, posting 26.97secs, the fastest of the night on Tuesday.

Portsmouth raider Champ Woodward did little wrong in making every yard to clock 27.00, while Crust Breaker - from Reading - could have a little more in the tank after beating Camp Bugler by a head.

However, with the trap draw as it is, there could be problems up to the bend where dead railer Camp Bugler, in trap four, may cut across the inside runners, giving Shelbourne Poopa, who stays on well, the chance to get into her stride early.

Poopa has been rested up for the last two months and will strip fresh and ready. The brindle bitch gets my vote over Mahers Boy and Champ Woodward.

Great news for Oxford is that sponsors Blanchfords have agreed a further backing of the track's oldest competition, which also includes an executive suite.

Tonight's card is supported by five open races and four trophy races.
