ELLIOT Harvey endured a frustrating end to his X30 UK Tour season at Trent Valley Kart Club, near Grantham.
The St Birinus School, Didcot, pupil went into the race knowing that only Alfie Brown could beat him to the title.
And sadly for Harvey, his rival came out on top after a power problem in the final put paid to his championship ambitions.
Starting in second place after first, seventh and ninth-placed finishes in the heats, it looked promising for Harvey with Brown 22nd on the grid.
A good start saw him settle in second position, before a lack of power saw him drop back through the field.
Harvey finished in 17th place which saw him end the season in second place, which nonetheless was a massive achievement for the youngest driver in the series, who did no pre-season testing because of his late move into the class.
