GRAHAM SCOTT'S MATCH OF THE DAY
OXFORD 2nd sit proudly on top of the fledgling Division 1 table after maintaining their winning start to the season with a 50-run victory at Thame Town on Saturday.
Wicket-keeper batsman Sam Chilvers and left-arm seamer Adam Price produced the key performances as Thame tumbled to 130 all out in reply to the visitors’ 180.
Oxford chose to bat first after winning the toss and got off to a steady start.
A competitive total looked unlikely when they collapsed from 69-1 to 96-5, but Chilvers rescued the innings with a fine unbeaten 59.
At 65-6 in reply, Thame looked like being humiliated before Ed Barnett’s 37 took them past the 100 mark and briefly hinted at a remarkable turnaround.
But Price and Chilvers combined to remove him, and Price wrapped up the tail to finish with 5-28 and secure maximum points.
Thame Town 7pts, Oxford 2nd 25
