Oxford City keeper Victor Francoz, who was injured after falling out of a tree rescuing a cat, has used up his nine lives.
Francoz, 24, has not played in the league since January after gashing his calf.
He tried to make a comeback in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup ties against Banbury last week, but Ford felt he wasn’t up to scratch.
The Frenchman was replaced by on-loan Forest Green keeper Matt Bulman who played in last Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Boston.
“Victor has gone,” said Ford.
“He told me he was fit, but wasn’t. I’ve seen the injury and it was horrific.
“He had a fair crack of the whip and he’s a good lad.
“When he first got himself injured, a lot of managers would have let him go, but we kept a spot for him.
“It took too long for him to get fit and with Mark (Scott) being injured, we had to make a decision.”
