CITY of Oxford’s Emily Wood qualified for the British Championships and Commonwealth Games trials when competing in the 200m breaststroke at the Derventio Excel February Festival level 1 gala in Sheffield.
The 14-year-old produced a qualifying time of 2mins 38.88 secs on the way to securing a silver medal.
She will now compete in the Commonweath Games trials at Glasgow in April.
Her clubmate Dephine Little won three golds, four silvers and a bronze to come second in the ten-year-old girls’ overall points competition.

Bronze – Girls: D Little 10yrs 200IM; E Gilchrist 11yrs 50m backstroke; E Nisbet 13-14 200m IM; E McNally 15-16 50m breaststroke. Boys: D Lindoso 15-16 200m backstroke.
