AIDAN Hawtin scored both goals as Oxford United won 2-0 at Thame United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.
The winger opened the scoring in the 20th minute, burying a low finish after an excellent run from Josh Shama.
Thame's hopes of a quarter-final upset virtually disappeared four minutes later when Ollie Lynch received a straight red card for a challenge with U's goalkeeper Jonathan Henly.
The defending champions made sure of a place in the last four when Hawtin doubled his tally nine minutes into the second half.
Callum O'Dowda, one of five players in the visitors' line-up who have played for the first team this season, swung in a corner which hit a post and Hawtin was the first to react, poaching a finish from close range.
Thame deserved credit for keeping the game competitive despite being a man down and Louis Cordice came close to pulling a goal back late on.
