Kennington Club remain six points clear at the top of the Johnson Buildbase Oxford League Premier Section following a 4-1 home win over Didcot Conservative Club, writes PETE EWINS.

Ian Gordon recovered from losing an early break to put the leaders in front by hitting back with a run of 4,100 to beat Dennis Atkins 4,980-4,120.

Dave Tooke then made 11,140 with breaks of 7,240 and 3,850 to level for Didcot.

But Mark Trafford (8,130, break 7,390), Steven Sheard (9,130, break 6,340) and Kevin Godfrey (7,960, break 4,920) then swept Kennington to victory.

Hot on their heels are Vikings Club, who won 4-1 at West Oxford Democrats Club.

Mike Jones (5,830) and Bob Allsworth (4,350) gave Vikings a 2-0 lead, before John Patey (6,440) pulled one back against Alan Oliver, who lost a winning break of just over 6,000.

Ian Moss (5,160) and Allan Lacey (5,310) clinched victory for Vikings.

With Section 2 leaders Gladiators Club B losing 4-1 at Berinsfield Club, Marlborough went top following a 3-2 win at Gladiators Club A.

Callum Bowler (7,560, break 5,200), Adam Ingram (5,010) and Chris Bateman (9,520, break 8,300) were Marlborough’s winners, with Bert Lovegrove (6,030) and Keith Gardner (4,060) replying.
