Wantage Town have completed the signing of 19-year-old defender Jack Smith from Conference South promotion-chasing Eastleigh, on a dual registration agreement.
The Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division side’s assistant manager Andy Lyne, said: “Jack is a no-nonsense defender who is very highly regarded at Eastleigh, where he is a member of the first-team squad.
“With our current injuries and suspensions, we needed to make sure we had enough bodies to handle the rush of games that are coming our way.”
Only one game survived the monsoon-like conditions on Saturday.
Oxford City Nomads’ Development side took on Brimscombe & Thrupp Res on City’s 3G pitch Nomads romped home 7-0 to go top of Division 2 West, taking their goal tally to 57 in 13 games.
All the goals came in the first half from Daniel West (2), Connor Harris, Louis Joyce, Liam Palfreeman, Liam Marshall (penalty) and an own goal.
After the break, Brimscome were awarded a penalty which was blasted over the bar.
