ABINGDON United had to settle for a share of the spoils after letting slip a 2-0 lead in their 2-2 draw at Marlow in Division 1 South & West on Tuesday.

On a muddy pitch, Abingdon were the more impressive, taking the lead after ten minutes through Andy Ballard.

Ryan Curtin's cross was partially cleared only for Jermaine McSporran to put ball back into the area where Ballard headed home.

Just before half-time, only a brilliant save from point-blank by Abingdon keeper Simon Tricker prevented Marlow equalising.

After the break, Andy Slater's side continued to dominate and it was no surprise when Ballard grabbed his second on 47 minutes, with a half-volley.

However, Abingdon then suffered a big blow when Ballard went of with a serious ankle injury.

On 62 minutes, Marlow, the form side in the division, clawed one back through James Flint after a poor clearance from Tricker.

Abingdon were then hit by another blow when McSporran limped off with a hamstring injury.

And nine minutes later, the hosts were back on level terms, Flint setting up Adam Dickens who fired an unstoppable shot into the far corner from 20 yards.

Marlow threw everyone forward, but United held on.

Abingdon Utd: Tricker, Organ, Moss, Pierson, Ballard (Woodley 65), Curtin, Ferreira, McCalmon, Herbert, McSporran (Simms 75), Odhiambo (Davis 80).
