OXFORD United's first venture into the FA Trophy proved a very uncomfortable one as the tournament's favourites were held to a 0-0 draw by Lewes at The Dripping Pan on Saturday.
It might have been even more embarrassing for Jim Smith's Nationwide Conference leaders as they came close to a first-round exit.
Gary Holloway hit the post for the Conference South side in the first half, and United keeper Billy Turley had a let-off after an astonishing blunder, when Simon Wormull's side-footed shot struck the side-netting with the goal gaping after the keeper had unaccountably thrown the ball straight to him.
The replay is at Oxford on Wednesday.
