Woodstock won 5-3 at home to Abingdon to go top of Ladies Division 1 in the Thames Valley Winter League.
The match was heading for a draw until Woodstock’s first pair, Jenny Corfield and Taysie Gujral, won the decisive final set 6-0 against Kathryn Schutterlin and Pam Gordon, who had taken the first set 6-4.
Oxford Sports are hot on Woodstock’s heels following their 6-2 home win over Cholsey.
Cressida Henderson and Aoife Miller winnng all four sets for Sports.
Blood and determination were on show in Men’s Division 5 recently.
Dave Brandon helped David Lloyd D to a 7-1 victory over Henley B, despite losing his top front teeth in a clash with a racquet.
