Headington Amateurs staged a quite astonishing recovery to draw 4-4 with visitors Chinnor in Uhlsport Hellenic League Division 1 East on Saturday.

With 14 minutes, left visitors Chinnor held a seemingly unassailable 4-0 lead, Jamie Essex having scored a hat-trick, together with a goal from Dan Stone. Headington were not to be beaten, however.

Drew Fowler’s 76th minute goal started the fightback, Paul Hedger volleyed in at the far post before substitute Yannick Nkwanyuo muscled his way through to make it 4-3.

With 90 minutes up, Fowler and Nkwanyuo combined to set up Shaun Jacob who squeezed the ball past Taunton to complete the most remarkable of comebacks.

Ardley United moved up to second place in the Premier Division with a 4-0 win at home to Abingdon United. Steve Howkins opened and completed the scoring for Ardley.

In between, Ryan Brooks and Ben Thomas scored. It’s proving to be a depressing season for Abingdon, who had a first-half effort from Nathan Merry disallowed.

Oxford City Nomads dropped points in drawing 1-1 at Shrivenham. Josh Fowler scored for Shrivenham, and Adam Lovegrove replied for the Nomads.

Clanfield were in rampant form in Divisision 1 East, defeating visitors Old Woodstock Town 6-3 in a goal fest.

James Fleming led the way for Clanfield with a brace.

Further goals for the hosts came from Mark Threlfall, Jack Ellis, Alex Povey and Jordan Cormack.

Frank Harrison scored twice for Woodstock, together with a strike from Kieran O’Dwyer.

North Leigh United cra-shed 4-0 at Fairford Town, whose goals came from Alex Rudd, Dan Bailey, Callum Parsons and Henry Traas.

Hook Norton recorded only their second win of the season in beating Carterton 3-1.

Joe Eyre scored twice for Hooky together with a goal from Dan Poole. Sam Farr replied for Carterton.
