Premier Division high-fliers Wantage Town were given a big fright by hosts Tuffley Rovers before securing a 3-2 extra-time victory in the second round of the Uhlsport Hallenic League's Bluefin Sports Cup on Saturday.

In normal time, Warren Mann equalised for the Division 1 West side ahead after Matt Pedder had given Wantage a half-time lead.

Pedder scored his second in extra time before Tom Melledew’s goal appeared to make the game safe.

But an own goal from Wan-tage’s Danny Lachacz made it a tense finish. Easington Sports added to Premier Division strugglers Abingdon Town’s woes with a 3-1 home win.

All the goals came in the first half with Andrew Stidder (2) and Ben Milner scoring for Easington and Michael Byrne replying for the visitors. Milton United beat Premier Division Cheltenham Saracens 7-6 on penalties at home after the match ended all square at 1-1 after extra time.

Joe Donaghue scored for Saracens, with Adam Bruce levelling for Milton two minutes from time.

The hosts’ successful penalty-takers in the prolonged shoot-out were Robbie Joyce, Adam Bruce, Johnny James, Brad Chalmers, Ryan Tappin , Patrick Howe and Matthew Chomyn.

Kidlington’s winning run came to an end when they crashed 4-0 away to an inspired display from Ascot United, who had lost the Premier Division game between the clubs.

The hosts scored twice in each half through John Denton, Joe Gritt, Andy Dean and Matt Jones.

Letcombe crashed 5-1 at home to Cirencester Town Development XI.

Tom Luce led the way for Cirencester with two goals, with Dan Roberts, Dan Jones and Oliver Pitt also finding the net.

George Thatcher scored for Letcombe, who lost Jack Hamblin with a thigh muscle strain, manager Alan Gifford being forced to go on as substitute.
