CHIPPING Norton Town are on the brink of extinction after a disappointing turn-out for the emergency meeting to try and save the Hellenic League Premier Division club.

Chippy have been held together by a one-man committee in chairman Sean Robson.

And last Friday's meeting attracted only 15 people, with the majority of the audience already a part of the social club, or Chippy Swifts' junior side, who already have commitments of their own.

Martyn Walsh, managing director of Chippy's main sponsors, MKT Computers, has agreed to a role as head of a fundraising party, but only two people could be considered as new blood.

Robson said: "After an appeal, and notice of the meeting in all of the local media, the night was a disappointment where only one person from Chipping Norton itself, who was already not involved in football in the town, attended.

"Does this mean that Chipping Norton couldn't care less whether there's a football team in the town? I can only conclude that it does.

"I'm going to have to seriously consider whether I am prepared to continue in the new year, as it seems that the people of Chipping Norton do not want a football club."
