There was further success for Oxfordshire boxers on the road, with two polished victories over the host gym at Cleeve's charity event in Churchdown.

Wolvercote welterweight Dazza Usher (pictured) had already outpointed George Reeves at the Kassam Stadium, but he raised his performance to an even higher level for their second encounter of the season.

He imposed his authority from the bell and mesmerised his rival by repeatedly switching between the orthodox and southpaw stances.

Landing neat clusters of shots of a firm probing jab, Usher looked in complete control as he romped to a comprehensive points win.

"It's great to record a double over an opponent and I felt just great in the ring," said Usher.

Berinsfield's Simon Welsh, 20, had his career put on hold for three years after a car crash, but there was little evidence of ring rust as he had his first outing since March 2002 against Todd Roberts.

He was the more accurate of the pair from the start and landed clusters of body shots off the jab.

As the bout progressed, Welsh switched his attention upstairs and repeatedly found his way through the guard of his taller Cleeve rival.

"It was great to get back in there and return with a win," said Welsh, whose previous opponents have included Olympic silver medallist Amir Khan.
