Fred Brown and Kaleen Love won gold medals for Oxford University at the BUSA Championships in Aberdeen.

And Kate Stinson picked up a silver as the Dark Blues made it a successful trip north.

Brown's open class points win over four two-minute rounds against Brighton University's Asfsheen Panivetti was achieved with fast combinations which his opponent had no answer to.

Love's middleweight victory was down to pure hard work, since she missed last season with a knee injury.

Love proved too strong for Glasgow University's Liz Mayhew, who was retired at the end of the second round.

Stinson and Jo Morgan were unlucky to be drawn together in the welterweight semi-final.

After three rounds of boxing there was a split decision, with Stinson's counters giving her the edge as both boxers received a standing ovation from the large audience.

In the final, Stinson went down on a close points decision.

Team captain, James Webster's light-heavyweight bout against Brighton's Jamie Davis, was a bruising affair, but the Oxford man deserved his unanimous decision.

Webster lost on a split points decision to Portsmouth's Dan Mendy in the semi-final. Mendy went on to win gold.

Dom McKean also lost to eventful gold medallist winner Harvey Clear on a split decision.

Tom Hughes went down to Olly Hoist, a Portsmouth hard-hitting welterweight, on a majority decision.

Webster, McKean and Hughes are hoping to avenge these losses in rematches, which have been arranged to take place after Christmas.
