NORTH Oxford officially began their centenary year with three new captains driving in and the launch of a new club logo.
Men's skipper Paul Upton, Sally Stewart (ladies) and Lee Tomkins (juniors) began their terms of office as the club marked its 100th birthday.
Following a shot-gun Texas Scramble, the trio teed off at 1.30pm on Saturday.
Tomkins hoisted a flag incorporating the logo and BB&O president David Lane presented the club with a centenary plate.
North Oxford spokesman Jean Leeming said: "The theme of the day was military, with the men's captain being a fireman at RAF Croughton and the ladies' captain ex-Air Force too.
"We had a fire engine on site and Sally, as Biggles in a tartan, loomed large in several guises.
"It was a fun day to start the celebrations of next year. Not too many golf clubs in Oxfordshire have achieved this feat."
