Once again, last weekend's match programme was disrupted by the floods, and although the Environment Agency gave the all-clear for the Thames last Saturday afternoon, by 8am on Tuesday, their Flood Watch was back on.

Nine Marston anglers fished their John Simmonds Cup on a windy Lower Court where Jim Foster emerged the winner with a net of carp going 60.2.0. He alternated between the pole and method with worm on the hook.

Feeding micro pellets and fishing the pole with punched meat, Anthony Tomkins was second with a carp bag of 42.6.0, while Pete Clarke was third.

Leamington Lake fished quite well for Witney AC's Christmas Match, despite being up a good two feet.

The 19 matchmen found it hard work as there was a strong wind blowing and the rain didn't help.

Fishing an open ended feeder and alternating between maggot and worm, Bill Bryant found 49.0.0 of carp and skimmers for first place.

With a net of carp taken on the method and worm, Dave Williams was second with 42.6.0, while third with 29.6.0 was Phil Weston, who fished the pole for a while and then changed to the feeder with maggot to catch carp and skimmers.

The Oxford Canal at Twyford was the venue for Masons' Teams of Three and it did not fish that well.

There seems to be a lack of gudgeon in the water, but Brian Simpson didn't need them as he landed 15.12.0 of chub to be the clear winner on pole with chopped worm.

Some roach, plus a few bits, gave Andy Benwell second place with 3.14.0, followed by Dennis Patrick with 3.4.0 of bits on either punch or pinkie.

Team points: T Robertson 17, T Benwell 17, T D Pether 14.

Beehive AC switched their match from Radley to a small backwater in Abing- don, where amazingly, a lack of flow made the going hard for the ten anglers.

The average depth of this stream is only three feet and Terry Lines drew the shallowest and narrowest peg on the stretch, but still caught a 4.6.0 chub, a tench, plus a few roach, from under a bush in ten inches of water!

He fished pole and maggot and weighed in 9.8.0.

Second was Andy Crabb with 2.9.0 of small roach on the stick and maggot, while Kevin Jeacock was third with 2.0.0 of small roach on pole and punch.

North Oxford AS were going to fish their Fair Rosamund match on the Cherwell but with the river still in the fields, the 11 anglers went to the canal at Wolvercote.

Pegged by the railway bridge, Jason Bean had a mixed bag of fish comprising mainly perch worth 8.9.0 on pole and chop to take the top spot.

Colin Quarterman was second with 7.3.0 of perch and bits, once again chopped worm doing the damage.

Using breadpunch, Steve Hornblow caught mainly skimmers for 6.10.8 and third.

Sutton Courtenay were another club to switch venues, from Appleford Reach to Culham Cut.

With a tench and some roach, Eamon Capocci was first with 6.14.0 on pole and red maggot.

Gary Stafford also had a tench and some perch for a second-placed 6.5.0, pipping Andy Whittington with 6.4.0, comprising a tench, plus bits.
