STUDLEY Wood ladies champion Lauren Jupp has been named as Oxfordshire junior captain for 2007.

The 16-year-old was a natural choice for the Oxfordshire Ladies County Golf Association as she has already played for their senior team.

Jupp started playing aged ten and went on to win the ELGA's Abraham Trophy, awarded for the most improved junior girl in the South East.

After losing out in the semi-finals of the Oxon championships, she played in her second county week at Frilford Heath this summer.

Jupp's deputy is 17-year-old Frilford member Sophie Purcell-Smith, another Abraham Trophy winner.

Purcell-Smith, runner-up in Frilford's ladies championship, plays off 12 and has been selected for county second team training.

  • EDDIE Pepperell will represent England in a quadrangular match against Canada, Holland and hosts South Africa in January.

The 15-year-old Frilford Heath member is in a team of six competing at Zebula Country Club, near Pretoria, from January 15 to 17.

  • THE Shaw & Co Oxfordshire Foursomes League Knockout Cup final between Studley Wood and North Oxford takes at Burford on Sunday.

Tee-off in the match, which was previously postponed due to fog, is at 11.30am.
