BERNARD TOLLETT OXFORDSHIRE CUP
ASTON Rowant will no longer host the final, Oxfordshire Cricket Board secretary Peter O’Neill has confirmed.
The match between Hors-path and either Great & Little Tew or Thame will take place on Sunday, September 8, together with the Wilf Bennett Trophy final, but a new venue will be announced.
O’Neill said: “It depends on who is in the final and then we will find somewhere in between.
“As far I am concerned it won’t be at Aston Rowant.”
The move to seek an alternative venue comes after the OCB switched the Minor Counties Championship match against Herefordshire and five county youth games away from Rowant earlier this season due to the cost of hiring the ground.
O’Neill added that the Tew versus Thame tie, which didn’t take place following a farcical mix-up, should be played next week.
Tew turned up for the game, but Thame failed to appear, claiming it had been postponed – something Tew refute.
