HARWELL just failed to pull off a superb comeback as they went down 26-22 at home to Maidenhead 3rd in BB&O Division 1 South.
Steve Dorrian's try gave Harwell an early lead, but the visitors hit back to lead 19-5.
But tries from Lee Lewis and substitute winger Dave Beaven, who also added a conversion, made it 19-17 and set up a grandstand finish.
But Maidenhead broke clear to score a crucial try, and although Lewis touched down with seconds remaining, it was too late.
