OXFORD Harlequins ran out convincing 49-0 winners over basement boys Clevedon in South West 1.

It took Quins 14 minutes to break the deadlock, but from then on it was one-way traffic.

Anthony Cope jinked over to open the scoring, and full back Pete Davis made it 8-0 with a penalty.

Two minutes later, Quins increased their lead when Ali Craddock drove over from wide out. Davis adding the conversion.

It was not until the 33rd minute that Davis's penalty added to the score to make it 18-0 at half-time.

Quins kept Clevedon pinned in their own half, but over-elaboration and determined defence denied them more scores.

Owen Gustafson danced his way under the posts at the start of the second period, Davis again on target for the extra points.

Gustafson's burst allowed Davis to apply the finishing touch, before converting.

A number of changes instilled more urgency in Quins' play, and in the 61st-minute, a sweeping move finally saw lock Carl Cimpoias charge over.

Quick hands then released Jake White to score a superb try to make 42-0 inside the final ten minutes.

Prop Tim Phillips was the last player to go over, Davis converting to ensure an emphatic victory.

However, Quins will have to be more clinical against the better sides.
