PETER Rhoades-Brown will move from his role as Oxford United’s football in the community officer in a behind-the-scenes restructure.

The ex-U’s winger will take up a position in the sales department after chairman Ian Lenagan last night announced a host of new appointments.

Paul Wright comes in as finance and operations director, while Tony Davison joins the club as commercial director and Gerald Kelly as marketing manager.

Wright becomes a full member of the United board with immediate effect.

Davison will be joined by Rhoades-Brown and Gemma Drewett in the commercial department, with two further changes seeing Lucy Townsend become club shop manager and Adrian Spiers the new safety officer.

But it is the new role for Rhoades-Brown that will be the main talking point among United fans, with his position meaning he will no longer be in charge of half-time entertainment on matchdays.

"I have loved my community work – particularly in coaching – but people have often suggested that I should be involved in the sales operation,” Rhoades-Brown said.

“It will seem strange to have a new role on matchdays, but I will be here at every game supporting our customers.”

Lenagan commented: “We believe we have now brought together a bright, hard-working team of people on and off the pitch with one common goal of bringing success to Oxford United.”
