NICOLA Sanders is the star name at the British Milers’ Club meeting at Iffley Road on Saturday.
The World Indoor Championship gold medallist will compete in the 800m at an event which has become part of the Nike Grand Prix.
Last year saw 150 athletes take to the track, but such is the popularity of the competition, now in its third year, that more than 450 will line up in around 50 races.
Sanders, who also won a silver over 400m at the World Championships, is the stand-out name.
However, Abr-aham Kiplagat, a Kenyan Commonwealth Games bronze medallist over 5,000m, and Portugal’s Jessica Augusto, who won a silver and bronze in the European Championships over 10,000 and 5,000m respectively, add further international quality.
Combe’s Steve Naylor flies the flag for Oxfordshire in the 5,000m.
The event take place from 3-6.30pm, but organisers will be hosting an open mile race beforehand for local club runners and schoolchildren.
