Oxford City manager Mike Ford has admitted he is unsure about the future of talented Brazilian striker Felipe Barcelos at the Conference North club.
Barcelos, who scored 12 goals in 43 appearances for City last season in all competitions, flies out for a trial with an unnamed Italian club on Wednesday, but Ford believes the best place for him is at Marsh Lane.
He said: “If I thought it was the right move for him he’d go with my blessing, but I’m not convinced it is. “But I’ll know for certain about that in ten days or so when he returns from his trial.
“We’re also entitled to compensation for him because he’s been with the club since he was 16 and we’ve offered him a contract.”
After pre-season wins against AFC Hinksey (3-2) and Oxford United U18s (2-1), Wantage Town host Conference South side Eastleigh tonight (7.30).
