Hook Norton 1, Cricklade Tn 0

HOOK Norton stayed in promotion contention with a hard-fought victory against their Wiltshire visitors in Division 1 West.

From the off, Hooky dominated, and produced some slick passing football despite a heavy surface.

The first half remained goalless, but the hosts continued to hold the upper hand after the break.

On 70 minutes, Ryan Breslin's shot struck the underside of the bar, but just as it looked like a draw would be the result, Hooky snatched victory.

Gareth Source gained possession just inside the visitors' half, before putting a ball into the penalty area, where local lad Pete Moulder crashed home the winner.

Letcombe 4, Winterbourne Utd 1

LETCOMBE produced a vastly-improved display as they brushed aside high-flying Winterbourne.

Home keeper Stuart Game was called into action early on, making an excellent save to turn away a near-post flick.

But Letcombe went in front on 13 minutes when Simon Tabor's corner was played short for Richard Claydon.

He delivered a cross, where Sean Webb headed home.

The visitors equalised on 26 minutes when a driven right-wing ball in was bundled home by Scott Cameron.

Claydon put the home side back in front before the break when his deflected shot sent Shepherd the wrong way.

Two goals in a five-minute spell at the start of the second half put the game out of Winterbourne's reach.

First, Jimmy Roberts met a Claydon corner and his precise flick found the net, then four minutes later, Ian Whatley's fine through-ball found Claydon in space, and he calmly chipped the advancing keeper for No 4.

Cheltenham Saracens 1, Clanfield 0

CLANFIELD were undone by a solitary Andy Sherlock strike.

John Andrews went close for Clanfield, but home keeper Ryan Betteridge saved brilliantly.

Clanfield dominated the second half, Andrews again being denied by Betteridge, but despite intense pressure, they could not find an equaliser.
