Great & Little Tew were bowled out for the first time this season as they slipped to a four-wicket defeat in their Division 2 West game at Harefield on Saturday.

The visitors battled hard, but never really recovered from slumping to 50-6 after being asked to bat first.

The early damage was done by seamer Dan Evans, who dismissed the Tew top three cheaply.

Worse was to follow as Chamunora Chibhabha got rid of the next three to leave Tew in big trouble.

They were rescued from disaster by Matt Woods, who not for the first time this season, showed those above him in the order how to it should be done.

The left-hander struck an aggressive 62 not out from 80 balls with three six and six fours.

Skipper Andy Harris gave good support in a seventh-wicket stand of 65.

But their total of 139, made in 46 overs, never loooked enough to challenge their Middlesex oponents.

However, the hosts were soon wobbling at 32-4, following a blistering opening spell by young Josh Megson, who claimed three quick victims, dismissing two batsmen for ducks.

Another wicket then and Tew would have fancied their chances, but Akshay Reddy and Ollie Richards halted the slump with a stand of 61 for the fifth wicket.

Reddy departed, but Richards, with help from Lee Tyrrell, saw Harefield home in the 41st over – but not without a fight.
