Kidlington & Gosford set a European record among their haul of nine gold medals at the British Gas Masters & Senior Age Group Championship in Plymouth.

Johnny Richards (backstroke), Pete Williams (breaststroke), Ian Surrage (butterfly) and Chris Aust (freestyle) beat the old mark with 4mins 11.37secs in the 4x100m medley relay for the 120-159 combined age group.

They completed a double by also taking the 4x50m freestyle relay in 1.40.68.

Aust also claimed a hat-trick of individual golds in the 30-34 years 100m breaststroke (30.15), 50m butterfly (26.51) and 50m freestyle (24.70).

Richards took gold in the 200m backstroke (2.24.92).

In the 25-29 years competition, Surrage posted a hat-trick of wins in the 50m breaststroke (30.16), 100m breaststroke (1.08.20) and 200m breaststroke (2.32.48).

City of Oxford’s Zsuzsanna Felvegi starred with four golds in the women’s 30-34 age group.

She touched first in the 200m freestyle (2.31.53), the 400m freestyle (5.22.22), the 800m freestyle (11.14.20) and the 100m butterfly (1.14.74).

Margaret Smith claimed a golden hat-trick in the 55-59 years 200m freestyle (2.38.71), the 50m butterfly (34.88) and the 100m butterfly (1.21.59).

In the men’s competition, Matthew Gomez triumphed in the 45-49 years 200m breaststroke in 2.54.61.

City’s mixed team also won the 4x100m medley relay for combined ages of 160-199 years in 5.13.89.

Witney & District’s Yolanda Speare set three Great Britain records with a hat-trick of golds in the senior women’s 50m backstroke (31.54), the 100m backstroke (1.07.33) and the 200m backstroke (2.23.80).

David Hall delivered double gold in the men’s 70-74 years 100m butterfly (1.50.44) and the 200m butterfly (4.26.32).

And Graham Cable was first home in the men’s 30-34 years 200m breaststroke in 2.40.66.
