STEVE Naylor and Cordelia Parker were crowned Oxfordshire 5,000m champions at Iffley Road.

Naylor, from Combe, and Abingdon’s Parker took the honours in races run as part of the Town v Gown meeting.

The men’s race saw Naylor ease home in 15mins 8.9secs.

Abingdon’s Dan Hamilton was second in a personal best 15.32.9, with Jonny Cornish (White Horse Harriers) a distant third in 16.54.6.

Parker won the ladies’ title in 20.00.3, with White Horse Harriers’s Josie Harrison the un-der 17 girls’ winner in 20.07.7.

Abingdon’s Noel Blatchford and Roz McKenzie came first and second in the county ladies’ 3,000m walk.

Blatchford took gold in 18mins 17.2secs, with McKenzie (18.20.2) hot on her heels.

Headington Road Runners’ Graham Chapman won the men’s 3,000m walk in 16.51.1.

  • RADLEY’S Rose Webb collected a bronze medal in the British Masters Athletic Federation 5K Championships at Horwich.

Webb clocked 29mins 5secs to finish fourth in the vet 65 ladies’ category, but also helped Southern Counties to the third team prize.

Oxford City’s Stewart Thorp was fourth in the vet 60 men’s event, recording 18.39.

  • DAVE Cantwell finished a creditable third in the Humph’s Hilly Half race at Bourton-on-the-Water.

Cantwell (Woodstock Harriers) led for much of the half marathon race before crossing the line in 1hr 18mins 52secs.
