THE Elmey family celebrated a rare double at Drayton Park, with father and son winning the club championship and junior titles.
Windy conditions on both days made scoring difficult, but Andy Elmey became club champion for the fourth time with a total of 152, while son Nick was just four shots behind after 36 holes to take the junior crown.
It was the third trophy in as many weeks for the 13-year-old, who plays off just five, following victories in the BB&O Under 14 Championship and Drayton’s Junior Open.
Andy said: “From my point of view I felt more under pressure because I knew Nick was doing well and there was the chance of doing something a bit unique.
“I didn’t want to let him down, so I was feeling it a bit to stay ahead. I was really chuffed to see Nick win.”
