LEADERS Horspath had a rare off day as they were hit all round the park by winless Buckingham Town – once the game got going.

Not only did a shower delay the start, rain interrupted the action on three separate occasions before the first seven overs had been bowled.

Town’s allocation was reduced from 53 overs to 40, and they were making steady progress on 61-3 from 18.1 when opener Rob Large was joined by Callum Price.

Large then accelerated, racing to 122 not out from 89 balls, while Price smashed 74 from 51.

The pair added 142 for the fourth wicket from 15 overs, allowing Large declare on 232-4.

With 28 overs to attempt the chase, Robbie Eason (42) and Jimmy Phillips (44) put together an opening stand of 97 at more than a run a ball.

But they fell in consecutive overs, and although Pat Foster hammered 53 not out from 36 balls, the hosts fell short on 182-4.

Leighton Buzzard Town made a poor start at home to Oxford 2nd, reaching 15-2 from nine overs when play was halted by rain.

On the resumption, they fared little better against Joe Ewen (3-28) and Waqas Latif (3-36), but Lee Selfe hit an unbeaten 51 to help them post 125-9 from 40 overs.

Oxford were allocated 27 overs and the chase proved beyond them despite Tim Sutton's 44, as Selfe (4-47) and Tom Light (3-42) kept the visitors down to 107-8.

Left-arm spinner Steve Hart claimed 6-48 from 14 overs for Banbury 2nd, who restricted Shipton-under-Wychwood to 177-7 in an innings reduced by rain to 40 overs.

Ross Barrett (44), George Seacole (33) and Simon Hole (32) contributed most of the runs.

Draw specialists Banbury settled for a share of the spoils for the fourth consecutive match, crawling to 83-3 from 31 overs.

Great Brickhill elected to bat after winning the toss at home to Twyford.

They were then frustrated by the weather, as a shower almost immediately forced the players off the field, before more persistent rain soon after their brief return prompted an abandonment with the score on 9-0 after two overs.
