ABINGDON Vale 2nd closed the gap on the leaders by thrashing Kimble.

Jason Cardy (3-12) and Luke Mitchell (3-29) put the visitors in early trouble, and they were soon all out for 69.

Vale made it three wins on the bounce by cruising to 70-2.

All four results were possible in the closing stages of the match between Oxford 3rd and Great Brickhill.

Oxford were defending 136 all out, Adam Boad (4-30) the pick of the bowlers.

Brickhill had only 20 overs to bat, but Andrew Harwood (58) and Simon Chapman (48) kept them in it. Chetan Walia (4-46) did the same for Oxford as the visitors finished on 132-9.

Leaders Leighton Buzzard batted first – as they have every week – and were indebted to Riaan Krynauw (80no) as they reached 182-8 at Cumnor.

Dane Bailey took 4-63 for the home side, whose innings was cut short by rain to 22 overs.

Graham Flower (57) steered them to 126-4.

Only 225 runs were scored for the loss of 17 wickets in the derby clash between Tiddington 2nd and Thame 2nd.

The visitors were rolled over for 117, with Phil Wood (4-43) doing much of the damage.

George Hook captured 6-52 in Twyford’s 178-9, Jason Heslington then claiming 6-26 as Challow were reduced to 83-9 from their 28 overs.
