Rain came to Aston Rowant’s rescue as their Division 2 West match at home to Harefield was washed out by a heavy storm.

At the time of the abandonment, Rowant, missing the services of opening batsman Damian Shirazi, were in big trouble at 73-6 after being put in to bat by their Middlesex visitors in helpful bowling conditions.

After a steady start, Rowant lost four wickets seven runs to the seam attack of Dan Evans and Chamunorwa Chibhaba.

Nick Ferraby went first ball while skipper Wes Morrick was also dimissed for a duck -ne of three lbw decisions – as Rowant slumped to 24-4.

Watching the mayhem from the other end was opener Chris Watling, who later saw Richard Cook fall for ten.

Having battled his way to 20 from 57 balls, Watling became Evans’s third victim when trapped in front, to make it 59-6.
